"Life is not a problem to be solved, it is a mystery to be lived"

Osho

Life is a journey that can take us many places; on high peaks, to very dark, deep valleys, and many places in between. It can challenge us, inspire us and at times bring us to our knees and make us doubt if we’ll ever be the same again.

While our experiences will be different, we each have the opportunity to learn, heal, grow, develop our resiliency to live through the challenges and ultimately welcome all that life brings. This is what we strive for through our work with you using holistic counselling and psychotherapy.

There are many different reasons you can be lead to therapy. Here are just some of the reasons our clients come to us for help:

They want to be free from the hold traumatic events have on them, that make it hard to function effectively and live a normal life.

They have noticed patterns, behaviours and trust issues within themselves and their relationships, and want a way forward to establish healthy, fulfilling relationships with real intimacy.

They want to have the skills, tools and support to get through depression, anxiety, anger and stress, to name a few, and achieve emotional and mental wellbeing.

They want support after they have experienced significant change in their lives like the loss of a job or loved one, relationship breakdown or change of location.

They don’t have a specific problem or challenge to work through. Instead, they want a greater understanding of themselves, their behaviour and values to increase self-awareness and achieve personal growth.

Whatever your reason for seeking help, help is what you’ll find here. Ameeta, our lead therapist, creates a safe environment with her calming and nurturing presence.

“Align with the spirit that is you, and you too will experience the miracle, the phenomenal, phenomenally powerful, majestic, graceful life that you are waiting to claim for yourself” – Oprah

It is our firm belief that healing can only happen when the mind, body and spirit are given equal recognition. As such, we take a holistic approach to concerns and trauma, seeing symptoms and challenges not as problems to be eliminated but as opportunities to develop and grow from. With this in mind, we provide a non-medicalised approach to counselling and psychotherapy by addressing the underlying causes.

The main modality Ameeta practices is called Process-Oriented Psychology; another name for this that you may have heard is Process Work. It is a post-Jungian approach that draws from a range of different disciplines including Taoism, Shamanism and modern Physics. A central part of this approach is the understanding that all aspects of your life experience, such as dreams, body experiences, symptoms, synchronicities and relationship issues, are meaningful, valuable and useful in the context of therapy and your own life process.

While we will work alongside you, we respect that this is your journey. We won’t try to assess, interpret, analyse or pathologies what may be happening for you.

Instead, we help you explore issues and unhealthy patterns and help you heal by developing the courage you need to stand in your vulnerability, shed toxic habits, and build resilience. Treatment will be tailored entirely to your needs and the outcomes you are seeking. You can also rest assured that your right to choose or refuse treatment will be respected.

Can’t make it to our therapy room in North Fitzroy, Melbourne? We also provide online therapy sessions via video conferencing. While some people do benefit from face-to-face therapy where they can be in the physical presence of someone they trust, we also understand that others may not be able to make it to our location.

We understand that seeing a therapist can be daunting and cause a level of apprehension in the lead up to your first appointment. Rest assured, though, that we do everything we can to make your visit as comfortable as possible for you.

The first session is about us getting to know you, so we will ask about you and your background, such as any medical issues you may have, the name of your GP and whether you have had therapy before as well as what has lead you to begin therapy and what you want to get out of it.

But it’s also about helping you feeling comfortable and at ease with your therapist so there will be plenty of time for you to ask questions too! While therapists may use similar techniques and skills, we each practice in a unique way based on our specialities, life experiences and values. Ameeta will be more than happy to answer any of your questions and share her story so you can get to know her as well.

Ameeta was one of the first people who really taught me the importance of being open and receptive to my own needs and feelings. She has studied the technique and the spiritual dimension of painting mandalas for over 10 years enriching it with the study and practice of other disciplines. Her approach is characterised by curiosity, non-judgment and perceptivity. Her focus is on the process rather than the result and this openness to the unfolding is what is truly healing about mandalas. I can highly recommend her not only because of her expertise and professionalism, but also because of her welcoming, supportive and good-humoured nature. She is committed to life-long learning, to sharing insights and to help others develop their own tools in the process.

Ameeta has a warmth, authenticity and intuitive insight that is profound and very sensitively expressed in her role as a counsellor. I have found my sessions with Ameeta to be beneficial primarily through her being a wonderful active listener, a nurturing guided mediation facilitator. Ameeta has an ability to offer careful yet deeply insightful questions for reflection, keywords or feelings to become aware of and be present with. Through these processes she is able to hold the container of the space securely. I would highly recommend working with Ameeta as a counsellor; her sessions are organic, intuitive, yet directed through her attention to detail. I feel truly heard and seen in our sessions, as Ameeta constantly offers the opportunity for self-direction during our sessions.
